Up with People has enjoyed a long, meaningful relationship with the
people of Bermuda. Casts have made eight tours of Bermuda since 1970.
More than 80 Bermudians have traveled with Up with People’s diverse
international casts, most of which have since returned to the island
and many who are now in leadership positions in government, media,
education and culture. That is the legacy Up with People and Bermuda celebrated on the occasion of Bermuda's 400th anniversary.
National Service-Learning Conference
March 18-29, 2009
Up with Peoples Professional Cast performed at the
20th Annual National Service-Learning Conferance held in Nashville,
Tennesse. The conference is the largest gathering of youths and
practitioners involved in the service-learning movement, drawing
approximately 2,700 attendees from across the United States and at
least 20 other countries each year.

Up with People's Professional Cast performed at U.S
AgBank's Annual Shareholders Meeting on March 18th, 2009. A 10 minute
performance to start off a long day of meetings. As the current Up with
People cast is out traveling the world our ProCast does private shows
at events and conferences around the country.
The performance at
AgBanks Annual Shareholders Meeting was the introduction to a new
number, Colorado, written by the Colwell brothers in 1965. A new
arrangement of the National Anthem, Star Spangled Banner, was also
showcased at this event.
Tournament of Roses Parade - Opening Celebration

Up with People rang in the new year by producing and starring in the
three-minute opening of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses 119th
Rose Parade themed “Passport to the World’s Celebrations."
Up with People spent five months planning,
designing, orchestrating and rehearsing for the opening show, which was seen by an estimated 40 million viewers. Special guests during
the performance will included a 25-member drum line and four-piece brass
section from the Missouri State University Pride Marching Band as well
as 100 Boy and Girl Scouts bearing flags from all 50 states and the
numerous countries represented by parade participants and by viewers
worldwide.
The show featured Up with People’s original composition, “A
World Celebration,” with lyrics specifically written for the Rose
Parade. The performance included authentic international dances,
percussion vignettes from various continents and a flurry of
international costumes and iconic customs. Tournament of Roses
president CL Keedy and Grand Marshall Emeril Lagasse also made
appearances in the opening celebration.
The opening show of the Rose Parade was broadcast on ABC,
NBC, Univision, HGTV, Travel Channel, Discovery HD as well as KWHY and
KTLA in the Los Angeles area. The Parade was also seen by hundreds of
millions of additional viewers in more than 150 countries and
territories. The opening celebration was presented by Wells Fargo and
featured the Palazzo Float presented by the Sands Corporation as the
backdrop for the performance.
Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Up with People was specially selected to participate in the largest,
most televised, and most popular parade in the United Sates on November
22, 2007. More than 26 million people watched the Macy's Thanksgiving
Day Parade, a Thanksgiving Day tradition that has taken place in the
United States for more than 80 years.
Up with People's Cast C 2007, comprised of participants from
approximately 20 countries, manifested the organization’s goal of
bringing diverse people together in unity and peace by performing along
the streets of New York City during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Participation in the parade provided a powerful and unique
opportunity for viewers across the globe to learn how Up with People is
meeting the needs of a changing world and training the next generation
of global leaders.
The mission of Up with People is to spark people to action in
meeting the needs of their communities, countries and world while
building bridges of understanding as a foundation for world peace. The
organization provides young adults an international and intercultural
experience that teaches servant leadership and uses the performing arts
to deliver messages of hope and goodwill throughout the world. Since
1965, more than 20,000 young men and women have participated Up with
People and made a positive difference in 3,600 communities in 38
countries worldwide.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade was started in 1924 and has
continued as a highly-celebrated national kick off to the holiday
season every year since. In 2005, more than 2.5 million people lined
the streets to watch the parade, and another 44 million watched the
balloons, floats, bands and performers on television. This year, more
than 4000 volunteers will participate in the 2 ½ mile parade.
